Apply Job ID MANAG012003 Date posted 10/27/2025 Position Type Full-TimeThe manager of the Blue Butterfly Family Grief Center is responsible for the overall Blue Butterfly program and the related services. The manager of Blue Butterfly will enhance the quality of the program by managing, organizing, and developing program events while collaborating with internal and external constituents and managing the Blue Butterfly Team.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Communicates with the Director of Blue Butterfly Family Grief Center upon request or at specified intervals to ensure the strategic priorities of each regional Blue Butterfly Family Grief Center.
• Promotes, articulates, and models the vision, mission, and values of the organization.
• Provides oversite and leadership of Blue Butterfly staff and program implementation in specified region.
• Upholds the Blue Butterfly model standard of care and all program policies and procedures.
• Keeps client centered services and client needs the focus, while upholding standards to exceed client expectations.
• Holds staff accountable to plans of care, program policies and procedures, and regulatory standards.
• Provides oversite that program offerings include a full complement of grief care services for grieving children and families to meet their needs.
• Develops professional relationships in the community for the purpose of educating the community and strengthening Blue Butterfly.
• Participates and assumes leadership roles in committees and tasks forces in the organization as assigned by either the Director of Blue Butterfly or the Vice President of Clinical Services.
• Ensures program goals and objectives directly correlate to the Empath Health strategic plan.
• Ensures positions are filled with the most qualified candidates; collaborates with the Blue Butterfly Director in developing training and mentoring to counselors and support staff.
• Oversees the annual operating budget for the region’s program and communicates with the Blue Butterfly Director with any suggested or requested changes.
• Collaborates and partners with the regional Foundation and the Blue Butterfly Director for financial support of program offerings.
• Decreases costs without sacrificing service, quality, or compliance with regulations.
• Possesses and demonstrates a comprehensive body of knowledge regarding children’s grief care services.
• Provides education to clinical staff and volunteers, staying up to date with latest research regarding children’s grief, trauma, and supportive interventions.
• Participates, as actively as possible, with Blue Butterfly programs and groups in your region.
• Ensures all groups are staffed by the appropriate child to counselor ratio and is available to supplement counselor responsibility if necessary.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
• Education and/or Experience: Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a school of Social Work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education preferred; or Master’s degree from a clinical counseling program such as mental health or marriage and family therapy.
• Required to have one of the following credentials:
1. Licensed in the State of Florida in one of the following
a) Social Work (LCSW) or
b) Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or
c) Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or
d) Has applied for one of the above licenses and will be licensed in the State of Florida within 90 days of hire
OR
2. License eligible (Registered Intern) in the State of Florida in one of the following:
a) Social Work (RCSWI) or
b) Mental Health Counselor (RMHCI) or
c) Marriage and Family Therapist (RMFTI) or
d) Has applied for one of the above licenses and will be licensed as a registered intern in the State of Florida within 90 days of hire
OR
3. Hired into this job prior to 1/1/23 and has a minimum of a master’s degree in either Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or Child Life.
a) This does not include colleagues who had attained and are no longer licensed or license eligible
• Minimum of 3 years experience in leadership of a team, department or program.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in provision of direct clinical services, preferably in the children’s grief environment.
• Continuing Education: As required for licensure
