Position Qualifications Requirements:

  • Education and/or Experience: Master’s degree (M.A.) and ten (10) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Employee must sign a Business Protection Agreement.
  • Prefer established relationships with elected officials, national and state associations

Job Duties Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a high-performing member of the senior leadership team to advance the mission, vision, values, and strategic objectives of Empath Health.
  • Develops the strategic direction and oversees implementation of a comprehensive public policy and advocacy program for Empath Health.
  • Spearheads the development of internal and external strategies to accomplish Empath Health’s public policy objectives at the national, state, and local levels and to enhance the visibility and recognition of Empath Health as a pre-eminent leader in the provision of an integrated network of comprehensive post-acute/non-acute care.
  • Leads Empath Health’s public policy and advocacy efforts at the national, state, and local levels in coordination with external lobbyist activities, including managing engaged external lobbyist firms and, upon request, registering as a lobbyist on behalf of Empath Health.
  • Cultivates strong working relationships with government officials/policy makers, business and community leaders, and other key stakeholders.
  • Represents Empath Health on multiple internal and external boards and committees, attends meetings, and makes presentations on behalf of Empath Health to internal and external audiences.
  • Serves as a thought leader in the external community, promoting Empath Health’s capabilities, expertise, innovation, strategic vision, and priorities.
  • Acts in the role of an ambassador of Empath Health to enhance the organization’s profile, position, and influence with national, state, and local constituencies/entities.
  • Monitors, identifies, and prioritizes state and federal public policy issues and analyzes implications and opportunities for Empath Health.
  • Collaborates with leadership across Empath Health on matters related to public policy and advocacy to ensure a cohesive and unified approach to addressing priority issues.
  • Collaborates with Empath Health foundations on identifying opportunities to include elected officials in events.
  • Engages internal constituencies – including leadership, staff, and board members – to facilitate their involvement in the legislative and advocacy process.
  • Identifies for leadership the public policy implications of strategic plans, goals and objectives, program development, and specific projects.
  • Acts as point of contact to coordinate Empath Health’s membership in the Florida Hospice & Palliative Care Association and the National Alliance for Care at Home, and other state and national organizations as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
