Philanthropy Associate - Suncoast Foundation

Empath Health is currently seeking a philanthropy associate to join our team!

The Philanthropy Associate drives entry and mid-level giving and fundraising efforts through outreach, consistent communication, cultivation, and solicitation to deepen the pipeline of contributions.  The position uses strategic donor research and evaluation, crafting personal communication and outreach specific to individual donors through in-person, phone, letter, and electronic communication vehicles with the goal to deepen and nurture donor relationships to boost loyalty and uncover opportunities for fundraising growth and donor engagement.  The Philanthropy Associate will develop strategies to increase donor giving through small group or individual cultivation and is an integral part of the Suncoast Hospice Foundation Philanthropy Team. This experienced fundraiser acts as the initial point of contact for new donors, collaborates with Empath Health care teams, programs and divisions, and helps identify stories that speak to our human experience.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain a personal portfolio of current recurring donors and volunteers, including individuals and foundations; communicate with portfolio constituents through face-to-face relationship-building meetings and written strategies.
  • Oversee, manage and evaluate annual and new donor campaigns, such as the grateful family program (Empath Angels), Colleague Giving, Recurring Giving Club, Primary Caregiver Campaign, First Time Tribute Campaign and Board campaign.
  • Create and write proposals, presentations, case for support communications and other donor materials both individually and in collaboration with the Empath Health marketing team and the Suncoast Hospice Foundation Philanthropy team to support annual campaigns.
  • Conduct and coordinate Ambassador “thank you” calls, making calls to donors in a determined segment
  • Develop innovative solicitation strategies for donors/prospects in support of the organization’s goals to reach varied donor audiences to maximize efforts.
  • Conceptualize and implement engagement opportunities for targeted donor constituencies through experiential learning opportunities, events, programs, meetings or other gatherings.
  • Collaboratively analyze and segment donor/prospect attributes, values, interests, giving patterns and other prospect/donor data to identify commonalities and create meaningful engagement opportunities.
  • Act as initial point of contact for new donors, identifying capacity and likelihood for giving. As determined, assign solicitor.
  • Build intentional relationships within the Empath Health care teams, programs and divisions to help identify experience stories that can be used to build a variety of cases for support and meet the needs of the community.
  • Maintain timely recording of all pertinent information related to donor tracking in Foundation database.
  • Be a visible presence at Empath Health special events, donor cultivation events, public education events, and fundraisers such as the annual gala.
  • Participate in Development department meetings.
  • Represent both the Suncoast Hospice Foundation and Empath Health within the community.
  • All other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university (CFRE preferred); or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Fundraising: Experience and proficiency with fundraising principles and donor relations.
  • Communication: Superior interpersonal communication, both oral and written, required.
  • Relationships: Ability to build relationships with donors, stakeholders (volunteers) and colleagues
  • Organizational: Excellent organizational skills are required to manage multiple projects and prioritize assignments with competing deadlines.
  • Collaborative: Willing to be hands-on in a role that is both individually demanding and part of a larger team that requires a high level of energy and may include non-regular work schedules.
  • Technical: Experience and proficiency with Virtuous (or similar CRM) and all Microsoft Office Suite
